Friendly service at reception. Comfortable room. Nice waterside location convenient for, but outside the centre, of Bedford.

Location and surrounding felt safe. As I was only staying for 1 night and had been invited to breakfast the following morning, elsewhere, I didn’t have the need to take up the offer of that facility. Maybe next time, as I was impressed with the hotel and their friendly staff, on the whole. The room was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. I have no negative comments to make.

Dropped in here for a meal after a lovely day out at Wimpole Hall and the day continued to be lovely. The entire grounds are well kept and really smart but once inside and looking out at the river, it only gets better. As we came to eat, we viewed the menu. Maybe a little disappointed as the decor and whole atmosphere was one of fine dining but the menu didn't continue that feel. Higher quality than pub food but not the edge which the surroundings suggest. I had the Haddock and chips which when t arrived, was very disappointing. Not quite microscopic but very small. Cooked well and the large quantity of chips seemed to overpower the fish. I enjoyed it nevertheless. My wife had the double stacked chicken schnitzel burger which was a good meal for the price and my daughter had chicken wings - just about the quantity you would expect for the price so all in all, a good meal all round. Drinks were reasonably priced (for 2024) and my biggest disappointment was in the range of malt whiskies! Probably one of the best in the area and my disappointment? I was driving!!!!!!!!!! Will need to test out the rooms and take time over the excellent selection on offer one of these days.

Very lovely meal..lovely staff.Adam was a gem. (Maybe a bit more selection of burgers in the future for veggies please) Food fantastic,great quality. Great wine. Delicious pie and pastry,Chorizo hash was amazing and the soy sauce with the cauliflower. Delicious food and great staff with great service.

The staff went out of their way to make our stay special. They made my hubby a marguerita cocktail for our anniversary meal, even though it wasn't on the the menu, and provided ice for my knee injury. Housekeeping kept our room stocked with all necessities, reception staff were warm, welcoming and friendly. Even the guy who came to fix our lamp was friendly and informative. Food was good, though could have been a bit warmer on occasions, room was excellent, though we did have the Kingfisher Suite! We paid a bit over the odds but it was worth it for the attentive staff and great service. I would visit again

We had lunch in the Kingfisher Restaurant and I can honestly say it was the worst food and value for money we’ve had in a long time! We ordered small plate tapas style food and what was served was either cold or overcooked. Such a shame because the venue is really nice. Recognising our disappointment the manager gave us a discount but despite this we won’t be back in a hurry!

The Kingfisher is located in idyllic settings and has a very relaxed ambience. We booked 2 nights accommodation, arriving on a Sunday afternoon. We'd also booked Sunday lunch (unfortunately our table did not have a riverside view) which was delicious. After we'd eaten and moved to the lounge area for a drink, we noticed an empty table that had a great view of the river. We asked one of the staff if it was reserved and if not could we sit there. He said it was and therefore, no we couldn't. An hour and a half later the table remained unoccupied. We were obviously very disappointed. Unfortunately, there several issues we encountered in relation to the food somewhat marred our stay. We had a vegetable pizza for supper and although it was tasty came without mushrooms. We had breakfast the following morning and we're not sure if wilted spinach on a muffin is a good idea as we ended up with a soggy mess. Despite that, the poached eggs were cooked to perfection. We had dinner that day and I asked our server if I could have mashed sweet potato as opposed to new potatoes. He went and asked the chef and came back saying they only serve sweet potato fries (that they are delivered like this!). This was quite a revelation and disappointment given the pub/restaurant proclaim thst they source the finest local, fresh ingredients. We tried to pay cash upon arrival (for Sunday lunch) and were told they only accept cards! This should be made clear upon booking/displayed throughout the premises for walk-ins (there is a small notice on the bar to this effect). On a positive note, although their inexperience was apparent at times, the young team of staff were very friendly.
